restless

im feeling restless. anxious. excited. bored. simultaneously. i dont know what is causing this, but i know what will cure it...i need to go somewhere. anywhere. or...if i cant go somewhere, then i need to do something really random and new and or weird in Madrid...and going to Xanadú to get my comp fixed on saturday doesnt count...LUCKILY this mood hit me just now, and its thursday, and that means the weekend is here, so i´ll figure something out. speaking of luckily, ASHLEY HADJATRY TARZABAN (mouthful, much?) IS COMING TO VISIT ME FROM MARCH 31-APRIL 25 AND WE ARE GOING TO ALÑSDKFJAÑSDLFKJ ITALY!!!!!!!!!!!!! we are going to:

 Venice (before it sinks) and
TUSCANY
and of course:
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Rome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 oh, did i mention:
"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" ??
let me reiterate:
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! ! !
i can't wait.
also, there are talks of me going down to Granada
to visit Mona Navid. she is there until July. So i have to go before then. i can definitely arrange that in May.
ALSO...Going with Carolina to Nerja
great beaches
there's a famous cave
april 28-may 2 (beach town by Malaga) on the costa del sol in the south of Spain on the Mediterranean for 3 days because Hannah Lawrence and her boyf are going to be there too, and we are all staying in a villa on the beach. there will be some serious sun worshiping on that trip.

so those are my plans for the next WHILE.

totally irrelevant: last night i made a REALLY GOOD sabzi polo mahi ba kuku and i´m really proud of it because MOMMY IT TASTED REALY CLOSE TO YOURS!... but not perfect cuz i didnt have shambalileh (shaNbalileh?)...fenugreek. also, i dont have years and years of practice. but its LOOKING LIKE IM GOING TO BE A PRETTY AWESOME COOK in the future. i get it from ma´mama! my food presentation was lacking somewhat, especially with the kuku, but it all still tasted right and nothing was burned. which is very important. im still working on domesticating myself..haha. sometimes ill burn SOUP while theres still water boiling in the pot, and other times ill make really good persian food. practice makes perfect.

so i was realy nervous to make it, but i did. and it was really exciting and good and WAY EASIER than i thought! i did it with salmon. (ill put up pics of it tonight when i get home) and i just popped over next door and bought some mast o khiar from the persian restaurant. they added raisins for decoration for me...so cute. so persian.

and i fed carolina, and sent her home with left overs too and she really liked it. i take that as a double compliment, because she has had sabzi polo mahi kuku before, so she knows what its supposed to taste like. AT THE SAME TIME...she hasn't been exposed to TOO MUCH persian culture/food so the fact that she liked it also means that a set of tastebuds that were not TOO accustomed to the taste of the food ALSO approved. score!

i think my next kitchen challenge will be to BAKE MACARONS. im REALLY intimidated by this one, but i think ill give it a go this weekend!
wish me luck.

another random thing: Eleena is in Buenos Aires now!!! im so excited for her that she is on this amazing wonderful life changing adventure! solo traveling in south america DOES something to people, and now she will GET IT. im very proud of her for having the guts to do a 45 day trip alone, cuz not many people in the world do! i´m totally picking up on her travel-high all the way from Spain, she is on my mind a lot and I am just so happy for her!

ok last thing: in school, in honor of Japan, I have been making origami cranes with my 4th and 6th graders in art! it reminds me so much of you, dad! I really enjoyed doing it (although i was again, quite surprised how hard it is to get a group of spanish kids to fold some paper) and the kids were actually really into it too. with the 1st graders, i had them make pop-up greeting cards, and they LOVED IT. SUCCESS! (again, reminded me so much of you, dad! next thing you know ill be collecting small branches and drilling holes into them and melting crayons to make colored-pencil-branches hahaha!).
